City & Suburban Cricket Association 1903 Inc.
About Us
The City and Suburban Cricket Association was established 1903 to preserve the interests of social cricket of a friendly competitive nature within the Sydney Metropolitan Area. We are affiliated with the NSWDCA.
Our Association provides a friendly and vibrant alternative for cricketers who for various reasons cannot commit to train two days a week as well as playing on weekends and public holidays. The Association encourages and welcomes genuinely interested cricketers from all playing backgrounds.
Regular Round Cricket Format –
The Association’s cricket format is of a One Day Limited 35 Over innings per team and is played on either a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Play commences 1.00pm and concludes at 6.30pm.
All Regular matches are played in accordance with the MCC – The Laws of Cricket (2017Code 2nd Edition – 2019) as amended.
The Season commences on the 2nd weekend of October and concludes on the last weekend in March each year.
All fixtures are played on turf pitches. We are indeed privilege to facilitate match day grounds that are located in some Sydney’s Private Schools, Sydney University, Premier/Shires grounds, Council turf pitch grounds and historical Goddard Park, Concord in the City of Canada Bay.
Fixtures are arranged between the affiliated member clubs of the Association. The Fixtures Committee certifies all fixtures and prepares the Master Fixtures List to be downloaded onto the C&SCA website each year.
The Competition Cricket Round Format -
Upon alternate weekends, the Jack Pace Memorial Competition Shield is played over five preliminary Rounds with the top eight teams advancing to the Finals. Umpires are appointed to the Semi-Finals and the Final.
The Competition Final is played at Goddard Park, Concord on the first Sunday of March each year. The Shield is presented to the winning Club on match day Final.
The Competition has its own Playing Conditions in accordance with the MCC –The Laws of Cricket (2017 Code 2nd Edition – 2019). The Playing Conditions can be viewed on the C&SCA website.
T-20 Cricket Round Format -
This is a new concept of the game that had been trialled in the 2020-21 Season as a day/night competition played on turf pitches mid week.
The T-20 trial format was played between I Zingari (Aust.) C.C., Reg Bartley XI C.C. Primary Club of Australia C.C. and Easts Dolphins C.C.
The successful outcome of the T-20 format has enabled the Association to now introduce this cricket concept among affiliated nominating Clubs.
