CITY and SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION FORMATS
City and Suburban Cricket has always and remains committed to providing formats that will allow Clubs and players to enjoy their cricket; enjoy the company of their team mates and opposition and will be played in a competitive, yet friendly manner.
The standard format for weekend cricket is a 35 limited overs match. This format is just the right length for most players to participate in a meaningful way.
Clubs, though, can arrange a different format in agreement, that will still be completed in one afternoon.
A recent and popular innovation has been mid week twilight t20 format. Played under lights and starting at 6pm, these matches are becoming more popular.
Both formats cater perfectly for Clubs and players to find the optimum time and format to play cricket.
All matches are played on turf pitches.
Clubs arrange their own matches against other Clubs rather than have the Association create a random draw. This allows Clubs to arrange and play matches against traditional opponents. Additionally, Clubs that have developed a strong bond with each other can ensure that they will play each other. Both options ensure matches will be played in a competitive, but friendly environment maximising the enjoyment for Clubs and players alike.
Following on from this arrangement, Clubs arrange as many fixtures that will meet the needs of their members. There is no requirement to field a team every week, although some Clubs do.
For those Clubs and players who also want the pleasure of playing for a trophy, the Association has a 5 round tournament where matches played on nominated weekends contribute to a league table, with a finals series in February.
The City and Suburban Association is the only Association that provides such flexibility in programming, formats and structure.
